The minibus: easiest option
The red C30 and C32 minibuses are how most visitors reach the Alhambra. Catch them at Plaza Isabel la Catolica or Plaza Nueva. A single ride is 1.40 EUR paid to the driver, or cheaper with a rechargeable Credibus card sold at kiosks. The ride takes about 8 minutes and drops you steps from the ticket office. The C32 loops on to the Albayzin afterwards, handy if you plan both.
Walking up: scenic but steep
From Plaza Nueva, the Cuesta de Gomerez climbs through the leafy Alhambra woods, past the Puerta de las Granadas and up to the Justice Gate. Budget 20 to 30 minutes uphill. It is shaded and beautiful early in the day but a real climb, so it is not ideal right before a tight Nazaries slot or in midsummer heat.
Every route compared
| Option | Time | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| C30 / C32 minibus | ~8 min | 1.40 EUR |
| Walk (Cuesta de Gomerez) | 20-30 min | Free |
| Taxi | ~10 min | 7-9 EUR |
| Car + Alhambra car park | ~15 min + walk | ~3 EUR/hour |
Driving and parking
Private cars cannot reach the entrance, the access road is restricted to buses, taxis and residents. Park at the official Parking Alhambra off the ring road (around 3 EUR per hour) and walk 5 minutes to the ticket office. Do not trust street parking near the center, Granada has strict zones and tow trucks are quick.
Timing tips so you do not miss your slot
- Leave the center at least 45 minutes before your Nazaries slot.
- The Nazaries entrance is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the ticket office, not at the gate.
- In summer take the bus uphill and walk down later when it is cooler.
- Buy a return on the Credibus card to skip fumbling for change on the way back.

The C30 and C32 red minibuses run from Plaza Isabel la Catolica and Plaza Nueva up to the Alhambra ticket office. They cost 1.40 EUR single (cheaper with a rechargeable Credibus card), run every 5 to 10 minutes, and take about 8 minutes. The C32 also continues into the Albayzin, useful for combining both in one day.
From Plaza Nueva, walking up the Cuesta de Gomerez through the woods and then the Cuesta Empedrada takes 20 to 30 minutes at a steady pace. It is shaded and pleasant in the morning but genuinely steep, so allow extra time and water in summer. Wear proper shoes, the cobbles are uneven.
You cannot drive up to the entrance or be dropped there by a private car, the access road is restricted. Use the official Alhambra car park (Parking Alhambra) off the ring road, which costs around 3 EUR per hour, then walk 5 minutes to the ticket office. Taxis are allowed to drop at the ticket office and cost 7 to 9 EUR from the center.
Leave the center at least 45 minutes before your Nazaries slot. The Nazaries entrance is a 10 to 15 minute walk inside the complex from the ticket office or bus stop, and the slot is strictly enforced. If you take the minibus, factor in a possible queue at busy times.
